Hi. Does the vehicle registration and/or car loan have to be in the business owners name? I have a small business but I will be using my sisters SUV for business use. I wanted to know if I could still claim the car as a business vehicle even tho the car and loan are in her name. Thanks

As an update to the information contained in Tax-Deductible Business Vehicles, enacted in February the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 per http://www.section179.org/stimulus_act_2008.html increased the Section 179 limits to $250,000 of new and preowned equipment including certain vehicles. The rest of the information in the article remains valid.
