All of the pros and cons cited are speculative: the change 'could' cause this or that... Reasonable people can argue whether a union will benefit workers ultimately, and it most likely varies by industry. What is not speculative is that (a) current law allows employees to unionize if they vote to do so in a secret ballot election, and (b) the legislation would allow short-circuiting of that process by a perhaps-temporarily aroused work force through a method that permits intimidation; the very objection that an election gives employers time to develop campaigns against unionization shows what the proponents are really after: avoidance of an election following campaigns by both sides. EFCA would increase the chances of unions being able to insure that only one side is heard.
