In Focus: This Owner Runs a '24/7/365' Biz

August 15, 2008

Small-business owners, you deserve a moment in the spotlight. In this regular column, we'll highlight entrepreneurs from all over the U.S., in any number of industries, who can answer the question, "What makes you stand out from the crowd?" We know you're proud of your accomplishments — now you can tell the world about them, too.

Scott R. Gingold, owner of Powerfeedback, answers our questions:

My name is: Scott R. Gingold
My business is: Powerfeedback
Industry: Marketing services
Location: Easton, Pa.
Year founded: 1993
Number of employees: 33, which includes full and part-time, as well as independent contractors
Web address:

What makes you stand out from the crowd?

Our clients' needs don't sleep, so neither do we! We run 24/7/365. At the end of the day, our success has always been tied to taking care of the clients' needs whether it's 2 p.m. or 2 a.m. We use the "Powerback 50" when taking on a client project. In a nutshell, we ask 50 probing, meaningful questions that can help us better serve the client's ultimate business goals and not just the limited project requirements. With zero staff turnover since our inception, our clients also enjoy consistency.

What's the best part about owning your own business?

The ability to make good things happen for our clients, staff and business without delay, bureaucracy or nonsense.

What's the biggest hurdle you've overcome?

Learning to delegate more, and not trying to touch everything that we do. I am still a work-in-progress.

What's the best business advice you can offer?

Keep it simple! Too many companies in every industry forget business basics. As in life, treat people (customers, employees, vendors, etc.) as you want to be treated, always be honest, display great integrity, over-deliver on client projects, and listen more than you talk.
